The Blue Water Energy Center is a 1,150 MW facility that occupies over 30 acres in East China Township, MI. The facility will help power over 850,000 homes and will replace multiple coal-fired facilities that will be powered down in 2022 and 2030.
The project was estimated at over $1 billion in total costs and will provided hundreds of permanent jobs in the East China Township area. The plant will also provide additional tax revenue to the local community rather than sending that revenue to out of state electricity suppliers.
Finally, the plant is expected to provide 70% cleaner energy and be 40% more efficient than the coal plants that it is replacing.
