Ultra-modern in design, with clean lines, sharp edges and ample use of glass, Vela was conceived to bring contemporary, luxury living and a level of amenities usually associated with Seven Mile Beach to the quiet shores of South Sound, Grand Cayman. Staying true to their commitment to build sustainable, energy-efficient homes, Davenport Development's Vela project is constructed using Flowers Insulated Concrete Forms and insulated, impact-resistant Eurotech Windows and Helix® Micro-Rebar™ reinforcement. Flat roofs mean owners will have the option of installing solar panels while water heaters, washer-dryers and ovens will be run on propane to ensure maximum energy efficiency.
Incorporating Helix® Micro-Rebar™ reinforcement into the ICF walls, the condos in the Vela Development are more resilient and resistant to hurricane force winds. The Helix® concrete reinforcement design methodology also enabled a full replacement of rebar in the pilaster application. What originally took 10 weeks of construction schedule, was reduced to 2 weeks due to the efficiency gained by reinforcing with Helix® Micro-Rebar™ reinforcement.
